History of Bshc
1973-1976 - The main experimental facilities of HAC/BSHC are built with the technical and financial support of the UNDP (United Nations Development Programme) and the International Maritime Organization (IMO).
1976 - On 10 th of October the Experimental Laboratory Base (ELB) is inaugurated within the structures of the Bulgarian Ship Design and Research Institute.
1 st of July 1977 - ELB is transformed in Ship Hydrodynamics Institute (SHI) with international name Bulgarian Ship Hydrodynamics Centre (BSHC), as division to the State Economic Unit “Shipbuilding” to the Machine-building and metallurgy Ministry.
1990 - SHI is transformed in Institute of Hydro- and Aerodynamics (IHA) to the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS).
1992 - IHA passes from BAS to the Ministry of the Industry.
1 st of June 2004 - IHA passes from the Ministry of the Economy to the BAS.

1 st of July 2010 - With decision of the 26-th and 38-th meetings of the BAS General Assembly IHA is transformed as a detached research unit (Hydro- and Aerodynamics Centre) with preserved scope of activities within the frames of the Institute of metal science, facilities and technologies “Acad. A. Balevski” to the BAS.
