The mayor of Varna presented awards for achievements in the areas of culture, science and education during a ceremony to commemorate May 24 - the Day of Cyril and Methodius holy brothers, the Bulgarian alphabet, education, culture and Slavic literature.

The "Varna" team award in the "Technical Sciences" area was presented to Dr Nick Markov and Eng. Grigor Nikolov, for the development of "Innovative method for generating environmentally friendly renewable energy from slow-flowing rivers and sea currents".



On the occasion of the Day of Varna, at a solemn ceremony in the Summer Theater, honorary titles, awards and prizes were awarded to deserving creators, contributing in various fields to the progress, prosperity and prestige of our sea capital.

He was awarded a gold medal of merit for Varna

Prof. Dr. Rumen Kishev, Head of the Bulgarian Ship Hydrodynamics Centre, was decorated by the Varna City Mayor with a golden badge of honor for his significant contributions to the development of shipbuilding sciences and maritime education, for the consolidation and strengthening of the professional community in Varna, as well as for its international activities, which accredited BSHC as a world-renowned research center.

Dear Colleagues,

BSHC would like to announce that the long-standing Head of BSHC Dr. Kostadin Yossifov currently retired. We cordially pay honours for all his contribution and dedication to keep always BSHC at its steady state and sustainable development during the years. He will remain a part of our staff.

As of October 01 th , 2013, we are pleased to inform you that Prof. Dr.-Eng. Rumen KISHEV takes up duties as Head of the Bulgarian Ship Hydrodynamics Centre (BSHC) in Varna at Institute of Metal Science, Equipment and Technologies “Acad. Angel Balevski”. We congratulate Prof. Kishev for his new responsible position and wish him success in its activities .
